There’s a lot of buzz about a “Black Label” testosterone supplement that got a famous professional wrestler fined and potentially suspended for its use.
They claim it’s clinically proven to:
“Boost testosterone production by over 167% Boost Energy Levels and Endurance by 252% [and] Reduce Muscle repair time by over 87%.”
What research do they actually point to? Studies on its ingredients:
- “Effect of vitamin D supplementation on testosterone levels in men.” Hormone and Metabolic Research
- “Zinc status and serum testosterone levels of healthy adults.” Nutrition
- “Asian herbals and aphrodisiacs used for managing ED.” Translational Andrology and Urology
- “Lowe serum testosterone and mortality in male veterans.”Archives of Internal Medicine
Does this sound like professional wrestlers are getting jacked on this? No. This is a general-purpose testosterone supplement.
So What’s In It?
Bottom line? Not much. There are a few common testosterone formula ingredients in their proprietary blend, and only two active ingredients* beside their proprietary blend.
*Vitamin D3 – The current research on Vitamin D with an outcome of testosterone increase amounts to one study, which shows a minor increase, using three times the dosage of this supplement over the span of an entire year.
*Zinc – Current research shows Zinc will increase your free testosterone if you’re both on a chronic/excessive exercise plan AND Zinc deficient
Stinging Nettle – Somehow known as a testosterone booster, this plant has hairy hypodermic-like thorns all over it. The sting results in painful puffy blistering of the affected areas. They use the roots of this nasty plant even though the research shows “no detectable influence on testosterone levels.”
There’s nothing wrong with a test supplement that uses these things per se. They’ve even thrown a few other herbal ingredients in there. If that’s what you want, you can buy a general purpose testosterone supplement that has a bigger profile of both active ingredients and botanical/herbal formula blend for $30 instead of $102. But what you want is a shortcut: Bulked + Cut = Jacked.
So What’s Missing?
Since we’re talking about label research, you should be looking for ingredients like DHEA. Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) currently has eighteen studies with high consistency showing a notable increase in testosterone. It’s a naturally occurring hormone that’s a precursor to both testosterone and estrogen. Supplementation truly is proven to increase levels of free testosterone.
While DHEA is naturally produced by your body, and 100% legal for purchase – be sure to check out the regulations of any competitive organizations you belong to. Some governing bodies ban even legal substances that give a competitive edge.

Gary David is the founder and CEO of CrazyMass, one of the nation’s leading supplement companies. Before starting CrazyMass in 2006, Gary was a bodybuilder and personal trainer for several gyms throughout Northwest Michigan, helping clients meet their fitness goals. Gary happily worked in this profession for over 15 years. He saw that most weight gaining products to increase muscle were made with ingredients that were dangerous or of poor quality. He knew there was a safer and healthier way to do this, so he created a special blend of herbs, amino acids, and nutrients to help bodybuilders slim down and gain muscle.
Although Gary no longer participates in bodybuilding competitions, he continues to be involved in the community, helping others prep for shows and attending events where he can advertise CrazyMass products. When Gary isn’t working long hours, he likes to spend his time working out at the gym, boating on Lake Michigan, traveling the trails around Northern Michigan by four-wheeler, and spending time with his family. He also loves to take a yearly trip to Europe with his wife and children.
